Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz, CA
This past weekend, Ebrahimian Integrative Dentistry came together with more than fifty professional volunteers to provide the utmost care for veterans at the Monterey County Homeless Veterans Stand Down event.
Every two years, this two-day event helps countless homeless veterans, and struggling veterans who have a home, receive much-needed services all in one place. Services include dental care, haircuts, medical, legal, VA, spiritual, and psychological counseling. There are even community services opportunities offered in which veterans can take part in efforts to clear their criminal record of minor violations and warrants.
The Monterey County Homeless Veterans Stand Down event provides transportation to and from the event for any homeless veteran, or struggling veteran in need of these critical services. Upon arriving at the event, veterans are given a warm welcome, and the opportunity to shower, get clean clothes, sleep, and enjoy a satisfying meal.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to spend our day off than to serve those in need. What better way to give back to our country than to offer up such an important service such as basic dental health services to those who need it most,” stated Dr. Ariana Ebrahimian.
An amazing fact about this event is that last time it was in town, only a few dentists showed up to volunteer. This year, however, approximately 50 dental professionals and dentists were at the event to provide dental services to homeless and struggling veterans around the Bay area. During the event, Dr. Max Ebrahimian and Dr. Ariana Ebrahimian, along with their dedicated team of dental assistants and hygienists, provided dental services to veterans including dental cleanings, exams, extractions, and fillings.
Dr. Elena Ebrahimian, recent dental school graduate, also joined her family’s practice to help make a difference in the lives of many. The hundreds of volunteer hours she has dedicated to her community are exemplary of her passion for dentistry and improving smiles. With a willing, and enthusiastic attitude, Ebrahimian Integrative Dentistry’s team not only bonded together but also helped make a significant difference in the lives of many homeless veterans.
According to the VA and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), more than 60,000 homeless veterans live in the United States, and approximately 25% of them live in California. The Monterey County Homeless Veterans Stand Down event is just one way to reach homeless veterans and provide the necessary resources they need. Ebrahimian Integrative Dentistry was humbled to take part in such an event as this and plans to continue serving their community through various outreach projects.
