At Ebrahimian Integrative Dentistry, we offer general dentistry services that include preventive dental care, such as routine cleanings and examinations (exams). These visits are recommended twice a year or once every six months to maintain an optimal level of oral health, although some patients may require more frequent visits, such as for the management of gum disease. Preventive visits are recommended for patients of all ages, beginning at age one. We gladly accept new patients needing oral hygiene care, such as dental cleanings, X-rays, sealants, fluoride treatments, or gum disease treatment. These preventive care services are essential to maintain good oral health and overall health.
The benefits of preventive care
Just like with any other aspect of your health, prevention is key to staying healthy and catching dental problems when they first start. Scotts Valley family dentists at Ebrahimian Integrative Dentistry believe preventive care, both at the dentist and thorough at-home oral hygiene efforts, is the best approach in guarding your oral health. We offer a variety of preventive care services that are designed to catch oral health concerns in the beginning stages. This means that we have an opportunity to fix the problem, such as a small cavity before it becomes a bigger problem that could result in pain or even the need to extract the tooth. We now are accepting new patients for preventive care, restorative dentistry, and cosmetic dentistry.
At Ebrahimian Integrative Dentistry, we believe all patients can benefit from preventive care, and that the investment is well worth the cost in the long run. For example, taking care of a small oral health problem is less expensive than waiting until the tooth requires extensive repairs or has to be extracted and replaced. Not only will this save you money in the long run, but it also saves you time, and probably some discomfort from a tooth gone bad.
But time and money are not the only benefits. You also safeguard your overall health by taking good care of your teeth. Poor oral health inevitable leads to gum disease, which affects about half of adults in our country. Untreated gum disease directly impacts your overall health because it can increase your risk of certain other health problems such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Some reports even have linked gum disease with a higher chance of developing dementia and certain types of cancers. Gum disease consequently, is the leading cause of tooth loss among adults, which could affect your speech, ability to chew properly and lower your self-confidence. Gum disease may be common, but it is entirely preventable with good oral hygiene and regular dental visits.
Our general dentistry services focus on helping you maintain good oral health and repairing or replacing damaged or missing teeth.
These procedures may include:
- Dental Cleanings and Examinations – Ideal for patients of all ages beginning as early as one year of age. Also, we currently are accepting new patients! These visits should be scheduled twice a year.
- Digital X-rays – Ideal for diagnostic purposes or when devising a treatment plan. We generally recommend X-rays be taken at every other dental cleaning appointment or at least once a year so that we can identify any changes with your oral health.
- Gum Disease Treatment – This common oral health condition can be managed to prevent further damage to your oral health. Treatment type will vary, depending on the severity of your condition, and your commitment to at-home oral hygiene efforts.
- Dental Fillings – We offer metal-free composite fillings that are ideal for repairing small to intermediate areas of tooth decay.
- Mouth Guards – Our custom-designed mouth guards are ideal for protecting your teeth against the devastating effects of bruxism (teeth clenching and grinding).
- Dental Bridges – An affordable option to replace missing teeth. A dental bridge is fixed in the mouth so that you never have to worry about removing it at night or for cleaning.
- Root Canals – A common procedure that is prescribed when the nerve of the tooth has become infected or has died. This procedure can help save the tooth from needing to be pulled.
- Metal-free Partials – A removable dental prosthesis, partial dentures can restore those missing teeth in your smile, and is an affordable tooth replacement option.
- Preventive Care – These procedures include dental cleanings and exams, as well as sealants, fluoride treatments, and more.
Fixing dental issues when they first start is much easier for you and less costly than ignoring the problem. Resolve to protect your oral health by following through with routine dental exams and cleanings, as well as commit to addressing oral health concerns when they are first identified.
New Patient Dental Exams
If you are new to town, we are accepting new patients. During this visit, we will get to know you, assess your oral health, and address any concerns that you may have regarding your smile. If you are able, please have your records sent to us from your previous dental office. While this is helpful, it is not required.
Pressing dental concerns will be addressed first, and our family dentists will recommend the best treatment option for you. We encourage patients to continue following through with routine dental cleanings to help minimize dental issues in the future.
Paying for your dental care
While we currently do not accept dental insurance, we are a pay-per-service provider. This means that payment is due upon completion of your appointment. We always make sure that our patients are on the same page as us before we begin any treatment. Therefore, we will make it clear to you what procedures you have agreed to, and what the financial cost will be for you. This way, you can be prepared to pay your bill at the conclusion of your appointment.
We understand that dental services are not cheap. But, we like to point out to all of our patients that taking good care of your teeth, and fixing small problems when they arise are the best ways to save money when going to the dentist. Preventive appointments that include a dental exam and cleaning also are part of saving you money by keeping your mouth healthy.
